DMZ the Lizard
Ludum Dare 46
May 2020

Event
Ludum Dare 46, an online game jam. We had 48h to create a game. Event link
Theme
The theme of this Ludum Dare was “Keep it alive”.
The game
You recently bought a new terrarium for DMZ the lizard! Now you need to set up his new home to have the right temperature, humidity, and everything he needs to be happy!
Also, keep in mind that the terrarium shouldn’t be overloaded so as not to stress it too much.

My role in the team
Game design
In this jam, our goal was to teach a friend how to use Unity, Github and program in C#, so we brainstormed and chose a very simple game design, where we could have fun and learn.
In DMZ the lizard, the player has to choose the right objects to put in the terrarium to make their lizard happy, the challenge is to get the temperature, humidity, and happiness pretty high with only a limited amount of objects so that the lizard survive.

Graphic design
Since the game is very simple and had to be done in a short period of time, I chose a minimalistic artistic direction for the objects and the terrarium, with bright colors and rounded shapes.

Programming
I programmed the win/lose conditions and the display of the finalized terrarium, the stats change in the sliders, and the counter when the items are placed in the terrarium. I also created scriptable objects for the placable items to make some values easier to change and balance.
I was also responsible for version control management so that we could all work easily on the project at the same time, without losing our progress.
